Not Just a Pretty Face: A Review and Interview

At the end of my interview I asked Malkan this question and she replied, “We need to boycott, lobby, write letters, educate our daughters, talk to everyone we know about what we are learning ? we need to reclaim our health, our environment and our democracy.”

…If a product contains fragrance, parabens, sodium laurel/laureth sulfate, PEGs, diazolidinyl urea, petrolatum, or things like that, I don?t buy it because I know the company could be making a higher quality, less-toxic product. … When we look at the cancer statistics ? the fact that the risk of breast cancer has tripled in just 40 years and now strikes 1 in 8 women in the U.S.; the fact that testicular cancer is rising in young men, and childhood cancer is a leading cause of death among children ? it?s obvious that we need to do everything we can to reduce the load of carcinogens in the environment and in our bodies.

Mateveza Yerba Mate Ale

The fusion of Organic Yerba Mate and Cerveza results in a very drinkable pal ale called Mateveza. … I?m not sure of the actual brewing process but the beer tastes slightly like Mate but definitely resembles a straight-forward pale ale. … Mateveza is a very drinkable Pale Ale so if you?re on the west coast, go ahead and buy some of it in the local stores, if you anywhere else, check out the site for information and a locator.

Northland Woolens Twice Baked Hat

They are taking sweaters and other fabrics that would typically be disposed of and recycling them into very warm winter accessories like Hats, Mittens, Scarves, etc. … It is good to know it is US born, made and no sweat shops were used.bomberhat2.jpg I have only two complaints with this hat. … Also, I couldn?t keep this hat in my coat pocket, like I usually do because it was way too thick.

The Organic Food Guide

The Organic Food Guide is a short book by the Sproutman , also known as Steve Meyerowitz. … All the green buzzwords that are being tossed around are mentioned in this small book. … It?s not expensive either, so pick it up online or if you see it in your neighborhoods.

So Delicious Ice Cream Sandwiches

I?m not sure what my favorite flavor of the different varieties of the Organic Soy Delicious Ice Cream sandwiches, but if I were forced to choose, it would be the Pomegranate Mini. I have a few boxes of the dairy-free, organic soy-ice cream in my freezer and Lala and I have been enjoying them on these warm nights. … As I said before, it?s hard to pick a favorite, but the Pomegranate is the winner.

Xtrema Teapot

I?ve been using it regularly and it works really well, so I was excited to try the teapot . … The teapot does not whistle, so you really have to watch the water boil which isn?t too fun. The remaining water in the pot stays hot after you pour your cup for tea, well if it hasn?t boiled over. Xtrema Teapot I am still using the teapot , but I know how it works, so be warned.

ReRecycle from Brand of the Free

It?s an organic cotton shirt with the recycling logo screened onto it, but with attention paid to the details of the logo. … If you buy this shirt from Brand of the Free , you are going to look really awesome around your neighborhood. … Can?t mess with that or the sweatshop free, fair labor/wages and all the other green practices that Brand Of The Free uses!

The Great Bag

I have recently been referred to as that girl who always has her own bag. … Being a sewer I can appreciate the time and care that was taken to create this handmade bag. … This bag folds nicely for storage, and the handle is the perfect length for me to carry comfortably over my shoulder.
