Dilmah Ethical Teas

dilmah tea reviews
If you’re a tea drinker, then you know that there is often a dramatic difference in the taste of $2 Irish Breakfast tea and $10 Irish Breakfast tea. And, I’m not just talking about the money here. I’m talking about the subtle improvements in flavor and the quality of the tea.

I’m a big time tea drinker, and I was wholeheartedly impressed with the smooth flavor of the Dilmah teas I sampled. The company sent along four boxes for me to taste: Irish Breakfast, Ceylon, Green tea with Ginger, and Green tea with Cinnamon.

I loved all of them, but hands down my favorite was the Irish Breakfast. It was so smooth and flavorful, and I can honestly say it was the best everyday tea I’ve ever had. The box was gone in just over a week. The day after I ran out I went and bought some Twinnings Irish Breakfast (which is supposed to be another superb brand) and it just didn’t hold a candle to the flavor of the Dilmah.

What’s most impressive about this company is that you can buy from them with a clear conscience. Dilmah is a single source tea, which means they don’t get their tea in blends from all over the world. Their tea is farmed in one place, and one place only.

The benefit to this is that the tea is consistently high quality. Other, blended teas don’t have the flavor that Dilmah has because they use teas from lots of different places. And I can tell you first hand, this really does effect the flavor.

Another impressive fact? The owner of Dilmah tea started the MJF Charitable Foundation http://www.mjffoundation.org/ to share his success with the very farmers that helped him get there. Profits are kept within the community of workers, which means that the villagers are making far more money than other workers on other tea farms. The Foundation helps build roads, schools, and hospitals in rural Sri Lanka, where the tea farm is, and has drastically improved the quality of life for the people living there.

If you want a truly excellent tea and the knowledge that you’re helping support an ethical, sustainable company, then you can’t go wrong with Dilmah. I’m definitely ordering more as soon as I get done with the other boxes.
