Terro Fruit Fly Trap

I have a vermicompost bin, and let me tell you, during the summer months I have serious fruit fly problems. They usually start showing up in the spring, and by mid-summer I’m going crazy because they’re all over my house.

Terro Fly TrapsI’ve tried all kinds of natural remedies to get rid of them. Cayenne pepper, baking soda, even homemade traps using everything from wine to vinegar to dish soap…nothing worked really well. I’d catch one or two, but that’d be the end of it. They’d still be flying around, multiplying like crazy, and just generally grossing me out.

I have to tell you, when I tried the Terro Fruit Fly Trap I couldn’t believe how well it worked. I started catching fruit flies immediately, and within a week they were completely gone from my house. I have a small compost bucket in my kitchen where I put scraps for my vermicompost bin, and that’s where most of them would congregate. I set the little fruit-shaped trap right next to that bucket and the flies started crawling in almost immediately.

The thing worked so well I went out and bought another one for my basement, which is where I keep my vermicompost bin. I left the lid off so the fruit flies could get out, and the trap worked like a charm.

The liquid in the trap lasts for one month, and it definitely stays effective for the entire time.

I don’t know what else to say except I was completely impressed with the Terro Fruit Fly Trap. It caught tons of fruit flies, which stopped them from breeding and making even more fruit flies. I’m definitely going to keep one of these open by my vermicompost bin all year long.
