So Delicious Ice Cream Sandwiches

I’m not sure what my favorite flavor of the different varieties of the Organic Soy Delicious Ice Cream sandwiches, but if I were forced to choose, it would be the Pomegranate Mini.

I have a few boxes of the dairy-free, organic soy-ice cream in my freezer and Lala and I have been enjoying them on these warm nights. The vanilla and chocolate are pretty standard, not much in terms of creative flavors. The mint is solid, and always a favorite according to my taste buds. It’s vanilla soy-ice cream with a refreshing mint undertone. The Neapolitan is very good as well. Its combination of these classic flavors in sandwich form is works well.

As I said before, it’s hard to pick a favorite, but the Pomegranate is the winner. It’s not even on the website any more, but it’s fun and unique. The sweet and tart organic sandwich rules! If you see it, pick some up!

    Four New Flavors from Purely Decadent

    We have enjoyed Purely Decadent’s dairy free ice cream in the past and there are four new flavors that we recently sampled. Read below to see what I thought of them.

    The four flavors are Snickerdoodle, Key Lime Pie, Belgian Chocolate and Dulce de Leche.

    First up, Snickerdoodle. If you have not heard of Snickerdoodles, they are simply one of the greatest cookies ever. It’s like cinnamon sugar cookie but better and this dairy-free dessert captures the cookie’s flavor into the ice cream without fail. It’s very smooth with chunks of brown sugar flavor that screams to be enjoyed!

    The Key Lime Pie is next. I absolutely loved this vegan, sweet ice cream. It was, again, like a key lime pie in ice cream form. Chunks of graham crackers with a hint of citrus throughout the dessert make this a killer.

    The Belgian Chocolate is very dark and rich. Belgian chocolate does have those properties so, again, they captured that, but it’s too much for me. It’s too heavy for ice cream and did not leave me feeling happy, but rather sick.

    Lastly, the Dulce de Leche. Oh yeah, sweetness and creaminess around inside this little pint. The caramel seems to just ooze from every pore of the ice cream. I loved it.

    If I had to pick a top one, it would be the Dulce de Leche followed by the Key Lime Pie. They are outstanding.

    Intoxicated Zodiac Candles and More

    Intoxicated Zodiac has got to be one of the most unique websites out there for green shopping. They mix green products with alcohol and astrology and created a store full of unique, handmade candles, tote bags, muddlers and more.

    Being a Virgo, a lover of liquor and a green guy, I decided to try the Virgo Soy Candle. Not only is the packaging lovely, recyclable, made from recycled materials, but it also is handmade and full of Virgo-specific ingredients.

    With pomegranate seeds, kumquats, raw sugar and cachaca and soy wax, I was in for a fragrant treat. The aroma is citrusy and sweet at the same time and the candle lasts for up to 60 hours. I have not gotten to that point yet, but when I do, I am 10000% going to be using this fantastic votive as a glass after it is empty.

    IZ really did an amazingly green job here with their candles. It came packaged with coasters so that was awesome as well.

    Intoxicated Zodiac is worth visiting and bookmarking. You should also sign up for the newsletter and read the Baroscopes, they are pretty funny and sometimes even true.

    MicroSoy Flakes

    Soy flakes sound odd and justifiably so. These are not really meant to be eaten plain, rather used as an additive in other products. I decided to try them alone. They are very dry and plain, sort of nutty and sweet. Either way, they are low in fat and have an average amount of protein.

    MicroSoy Flakes are sold to other companies for use as bulk ingredients, so don’t eat them by their lonesome. Yuck!

    Cherrybrook Kitchen’s Fudge Brownie Mix with Chocolate Chips

    If someone asked you if you wanted a dairy free, egg free, and nut free all natural brownie, your first instinct might be no. As a 7-month pregnant woman, mine was no too. But when my husband cooked up a batch of Cherrybrook Kitchen’s Fudge Brownie Mix with Chocolate Chips for me, and I took my first bite, I realized my instincts were wrong. I could not believe how yummy these brownies were!

    A husband and wife team, Patsy and Chip Rosenberg created this company because Patsy suffers from a number of food allergies. Even though I do not, I thoroughly enjoyed this dessert. Each brownie is only 150 calories, and I can pronounce every single ingredient that goes into them. Visit their adorable website cherrybrookkitchen.com, especially those of you who do suffer from food allergies that prevent you from enjoying desserts. These brownies will make you feel good while remaining good for you.

    Tex Mex Superburgers

    Turtle Island Foods, the creator of Tofurky, also makes great tempeh burgers. The Tex Mex version is no joke either. It’s vegan, chunky with a touch of spice. These are truly great low fat veggie burger.

    Not only is this tempeh treat low in fat, but it’s low in sodium and high in protein. The black beans have a noticeable taste which is a bonus treat. I like a little substance to my veggie burger and I definitely got it here with this Tex Mex Superburger.

    Wheeler’s Frozen Desserts

    Sweet Avenue Bakery graciously invited me over for their pre-Oscar vegan ice cream tasting hosted by Wheeler’s Frozen Desserts. Well worth the 4 mile commute to Rutherford. Emily and Ashley tried to make me guess their special flavors. It was tough and I failed miserably, but I could pick out some key ingredients.

    I tried five different vegan ice creams and sorbets. I had the Peanut Butter, Black Russian (mystery flavor #1), Margarita Sorbet (mystery flavor #2), Chocolate and Chocolate Sorbet.

    The best flavor, hands down, was the Peanut Butter. I could taste the peanut butter and the creamy vegan ice cream just made it melt together so nicely. I did not like the Chocolate because it had chunks of coconut, even though they assured me it did not. I liked the others, but my second favorite was the Black Russian.

    Good news though, Wheeler’s is opening a storefront, so the next time you are in Boston, head over. It will be opening on Mass Ave near Huntington. Apparently this is a prime location.

    Soy On The Go Cappuccino

    Soy On The Go, a new product by Zen Soy are individual servings of soymilk. The cappuccino flavored soymilk really sounded good, but after trying it, I was rather disappointed. This soymilk is organic, non GMO, Vegan and all that, but one thing it was missing was flavor. It definitely needed more of a kick.

    A positive aspect of Soy on The Go is the packaging. It’s packed in Tetrapaks and that makes me happy. Hopefully the vanilla and chocolate soymilk taste better. Come back soon for those reviews.
