Guayaki Vanilla Nut Java Mate

I love my yerba mate and I decided to experiment with the Java Mate from Guayaki. I decided to use my hot tea infuser instead of the traditional gourd.

guayaki yerba mate reviews

I added the same amount of yerba mate and water that I would have for a few gourds full and let the mate infuse with the boiling water. The nutty vanilla aroma was pleasantly noticeable. After each infusion of mate and water, I added the hot water into a pitcher and set it aside. 128 ounces of hot vanilla nut yerba mate sat patiently until it was ready to be refrigerated. After the hot mate semi cooled down, I placed it into the fridge and sampled it the next morning.

Perfectly blended cold yerba mate hit the spot and provided the much needed organic energy that my body craved. I do like my Guayaki Yerba Mate better hot, but cold is great as well!

Mr. Krisper’s Baked Rice Sea Salt & Pepper Krisps

Much like your typical potato chips, once you open Mr. Krisper’s, you just can’t stop eating them. Baked rice snack cakes with a hint of sea salt and cracked black pepper are a healthy snack alternative from the average chip. I did enjoy the entire bag for lunch one day with some good old fashion water. The minimal touch of seasoning was just right to compliment the brown rice. I look forward to trying more flavors such as Sour Cream and Onion.

    Reunion Organic Red Rye Ale

When you purchase the organic red rye ale dubbed Reunion 08 the profits go to the Institute for Myeloma and Bone Cancer Research. This beer also warms your belly. Not a bad Red Rye Ale with its mildly fruity and malty characteristics, but after one, I was not in the mood for another. The premise behind the Reunion Organic Ale is not the taste of the beer, but rather the donation you are giving to the research.

Virginia MacLean’s spirit lives on for 2008 with the Reunion Organic Red Rye Ale. It’s available mostly in the west coast, so if you see it, pick up a few of them. It’s for a good cause.

    Splaff Flip Flops

The Splaff Flip Flops are not comfortable for me because they are way to flat. I love the premise, recycled car tire upper and lower parts, but they do not fit me well.

    splaff flip flop reviews

Splaff’s Flip Flops are way too flat for me, like can’t be in the army flat, but they are eco-chic and cool. I wish I could wear them, but the Simple ones are going to have to be my summer standard until I can find a more comfortable pair.

I do like the way they look, just plain and black, but damn, too flat for me. Maybe I’m a freak of nature and just should not wear car tire flip flops.

    Flying Dog Kerberos Tripel

Mmmmmmm, hops and then nothing. The flavor seems to disappear after a few sips. At first, you can taste the fruity and hoppy bite. The Tripel is a Belgium style beer, but some may call it Strong Ale. It’s a decent beer, but the flavors seem to just vanish after a few sips. It’s not too summery, however, it is not meant to be. The high alcohol by volume content (ABV) is warming, but may be more suited for a chilly night with your significant other.

    kerberos reviews

The Flying Dog Kerberos is bottle-conditioned so you’ll get some yeast at the bottom of the bottle. Drink it up, it is good for you. I’m drinking this bottle now, out of my Stop Beer Warming Glass.

    Melissa’s Organic Grinders

Spices in convenient grinder packaging are not a new idea but organic spices are. I have been actively using the Garlic & Herb Sea Salt, the Chile Seasoning, the Italian Seasoning and the Rainbow Peppercorn Seasoning recently and they are all hits. I like the easily-fresh-ground spices, the fun lid for easy measuring and, of course, the flavor.

The Italian Seasoning contains the traditional Italian spices like basil, oregano, salt and pepper. It’s very fresh tasting and works really well in pasta sauce and salads. It is sort of salty, however.

    melissas organic grinder spices reviews

The Rainbow Peppercorn is full of all sorts of peppercorns for a crazy pepper flavor. I like it, but it does not go well with everything like black peppercorns would.

The Garlic & Herb Sea Salt is very similar to the Italian Seasoning. It’s saltier and less herby, but the garlic is definitely present.

My favorite is the Chile Seasoning. From the mellow to the hot, you will find a wide range of chile spices in this little container. Add however much you want into the mix and you are all set for rice and beans.

There are more Organic Grinders from Melissa, but we’ll get to those reviews soon. Check back with us.

    Clorox Green Works Cleaning Products

Everyone hates cleaning the house. This is because it is time consuming, and we end up inhaling all kinds of chemicals from products that claim to “clean” but really may be doing more harm than good to our bodies. That is why the product line Clorox Green Works is amazing! My husband and I split up the cleaning in the house to try out all five of these new products.

The Green Works all-purpose cleaner is used for our kitchen, bathroom, and generally on any mess we can find. All of these products do not smell like your typically cleaner. They all smell faintly of coconut, and disinfect just as well as any cleaner we have tried before.

The Green Works natural and glass surface cleaner is used on our mirrors, glass, and our wood kitchen table. It is not streaky, and it dries quickly and nicely.

    green works cleaners reviews

The Green Works natural bathroom cleaner and natural toilet bowl cleaner are obviously used to keep our bathrooms clean. The bathroom is such a small area where it is easy to inhale too many harsh chemicals. We did not feel we had to leave the room immediately after scrubbing.

The Green Works natural dilutable cleaner can be used for various surfaces, but it is best for cleaning the kitchen floor. It is much better than the lemon Pine Sol that I have been using for years, which smells neither of real lemons or pine.

All these products are made from plant and mineral based materials. The ingredients are primarily: coconut based cleaning agents, corn-based ethanol, filtered water, and essential lemon oil.

According to the makers of Clorox: “When we created Green Works natural cleaners, we defined natural using three core principles. The ingredients must come from renewable resources, be biodegradable and free of petrochemicals. Our stringent standard sets the bar for natural cleaning very high, but we think it’s worth it.”

Kudos to Clorox for taking cleaning to a whole new “green” level! Check out their website for more detailed information on this excellent and healthy new line of cleaning products.
