SafeHome Duo Air Filter

SafeHome Duo is an air filter for your home’s HVAC unit but it’s different than your average filter. The Duo appears to be backwards. The wire frame is actually inside the filter and it’s not visible because it’s hidden inside the multiple layers of both allergen and pollution trapping filters.

I do not want to get into the tech specs of the SafeHome Duo, but I think it works. It’s hard to really judge how effective it is, but I do know a few things. I do not sneeze nearly as much as I did with the previous filter. I also do not smell the effects of candles or cooking in other rooms in my condo. I assume that is also another thing that is a result of the Duo.

My assumptions are that the filter is effective; if that changes I will let you know. You can purchase Duo’s filters from online stores and local shops too. Check them out here.

Four New Flavors from Purely Decadent

We have enjoyed Purely Decadent’s dairy free ice cream in the past and there are four new flavors that we recently sampled. Read below to see what I thought of them.

The four flavors are Snickerdoodle, Key Lime Pie, Belgian Chocolate and Dulce de Leche.

First up, Snickerdoodle. If you have not heard of Snickerdoodles, they are simply one of the greatest cookies ever. It’s like cinnamon sugar cookie but better and this dairy-free dessert captures the cookie’s flavor into the ice cream without fail. It’s very smooth with chunks of brown sugar flavor that screams to be enjoyed!

The Key Lime Pie is next. I absolutely loved this vegan, sweet ice cream. It was, again, like a key lime pie in ice cream form. Chunks of graham crackers with a hint of citrus throughout the dessert make this a killer.

The Belgian Chocolate is very dark and rich. Belgian chocolate does have those properties so, again, they captured that, but it’s too much for me. It’s too heavy for ice cream and did not leave me feeling happy, but rather sick.

Lastly, the Dulce de Leche. Oh yeah, sweetness and creaminess around inside this little pint. The caramel seems to just ooze from every pore of the ice cream. I loved it.

If I had to pick a top one, it would be the Dulce de Leche followed by the Key Lime Pie. They are outstanding.

Stay tuned for more Soy Delicious reviews including a guest review from our friends at Sweet Avenue Bake Shop.

    Loft Lemongrass Organic Liqueur

I’m a beer guy but trying a Lemongrass Cello from Loft Liqueurs is something fun and different and I’m happy I did. This is a unique taste. The Liqueur is sweet and lemony from the organic lemongrass. It goes well as a refreshing after dinner drink or with fruit. You can also mix it up with some fun recipes like the Lemongrass Martini or Margarita.

Get crazy with it; it’s all fun and tasty. Loft offers two other flavors currently and we’ll be reviewing the Lavender Cello soon.

The bottles are small but worth trying if you are into experimenting with spirits. You can pick them up at retailers in California and NY, according to Loft’s website.

    Intoxicated Zodiac Candles and More

Intoxicated Zodiac has got to be one of the most unique websites out there for green shopping. They mix green products with alcohol and astrology and created a store full of unique, handmade candles, tote bags, muddlers and more.

Being a Virgo, a lover of liquor and a green guy, I decided to try the Virgo Soy Candle. Not only is the packaging lovely, recyclable, made from recycled materials, but it also is handmade and full of Virgo-specific ingredients.

    intoxicated zodiac candle review

With pomegranate seeds, kumquats, raw sugar and cachaca and soy wax, I was in for a fragrant treat. The aroma is citrusy and sweet at the same time and the candle lasts for up to 60 hours. I have not gotten to that point yet, but when I do, I am 10000% going to be using this fantastic votive as a glass after it is empty.

IZ really did an amazingly green job here with their candles. It came packaged with coasters so that was awesome as well.

Intoxicated Zodiac is worth visiting and bookmarking. You should also sign up for the newsletter and read the Baroscopes, they are pretty funny and sometimes even true.

    Method Go Naked line

Cleaning products from method are simple, effective and modern in their branding and eco-packaging. Do they work though? I’m no chemist, but the Go Naked line seems to clean just as well as method’s other lines that we have tested in the past.

Some people have severe allergies when it comes to scents. Method developed this formula for you guys. The clear, odorless, green dish soap and all surface cleaner work really well.

The soap cleans the dishes nicely and the surface cleaner sprays as intended. If you like sans-serif fonts, modern packaging and a decently priced company with no odors, check out method’s naked line.

Haven by Hotel Collection for Macy’s

Macy’s exclusive brand, Hotel Collection, has a line called Haven of organic cotton towels. They are nothing fancy, nothing extraordinary, just average organic cotton towels. The problem is they do not absorb too well.

They are soft and comfortable, but need to be washed more often then an average one. They are hard to locate if you search by brand and maybe that’s a sign of something.

I have the hand towel, face cloth and regular size towels. Though the color is nice, the actual product could be a lot better.

    Numi Organic Tea Reviews

Formed in 1999, a brother-sister team started Numi Organic Tea as a way to revive the art behind simple tea. As one who enjoys a good tea, my journey with Numi began. I decided to take it slow with the tea and only drink it when I had the craving for a good hot tea. I started with the Chinese Breakfast Tea, which had a very soothing Oolong taste with a hint of orange. It is a black tea, and needed no sugar.

Next was the Golden Chai, which was also a dark tea. Chai happens to be my favorite of all tea but what I find from a lot of companies is an overdone spice. This was not the case. The cinnamon and ginger was on point. This was a very well mixed dark tea, even though it needed a little sugar.
    numi tea reviews

The Ruby Chai was not as good as the Golden Chai as I think it had too much cinnamon in the blend, but it did not need sugar. The Honeybush tea was lighter than the others, needed no sugar and had a very nice fruit flavor.

Along with its Oolong taste, this was a very nice tea after a long day of work. In the box of Numi were 4 more teas, which I wasn’t very fond of…
    numi organic tea reviews

The Lime Herbal tea was way too overwhelming. It is possible some people like tart tea but that is not the case for me. The same went for the Mate Lemon Green Tea. Lemon is good in a tea, but it tastes as though an entire Lemon was dropped in the tea. The Jasmine Green Tea wasn’t that bad although I’d prefer Arizona tea or Numi’s Green Tea.

For the most part Numi Tea makes a very wide range of tea, each fair trade organic and each with a unique twist and taste. For the most part I enjoyed tasting a new batch of tea. I would purchase the Numi Golden Chai Tea over and over again.

    Guayaki Vanilla Nut Java Mate

I love my yerba mate and I decided to experiment with the Java Mate from Guayaki. I decided to use my hot tea infuser instead of the traditional gourd.

    guayaki yerba mate reviews

I added the same amount of yerba mate and water that I would have for a few gourds full and let the mate infuse with the boiling water. The nutty vanilla aroma was pleasantly noticeable. After each infusion of mate and water, I added the hot water into a pitcher and set it aside. 128 ounces of hot vanilla nut yerba mate sat patiently until it was ready to be refrigerated. After the hot mate semi cooled down, I placed it into the fridge and sampled it the next morning.

Perfectly blended cold yerba mate hit the spot and provided the much needed organic energy that my body craved. I do like my Guayaki Yerba Mate better hot, but cold is great as well!
