Handcrafted, brewed ginger ale is starting to show up on retail store shelves more than it has in the past and it’s for good reason. Health conscious people do not want traditional sugary sodas anymore. They are into healthier alternatives with actual nutritional benefits.

Reed’s brews are more than just a soda. Like a good craft beer, Reed’s prides itself in handcrafted brews made with ginger. Ginger is known for its medicinal properties and benefits. It is hghly present in the brew.
The Cherry Ginger contains 22 grams of ginger per bottle and contains cherry juice and tastes good. It’s tart and slightly spicy from the ginger. It is very refreshing and worth trying if you are into ginger.

Reed’s also produces Virgil’s Cream Soda sthat my Dad absolutely loved. He said it tasted traditional and blows Brown’s away! I did not get to sip it, but I trust my Dad’s opinion.

Organic Fuel for the mind, body and soul is Steaz‘ tag line and I feel it’s totally appropriate. The lightly carbonated beverages are filled with green tea, yerba mate, acai and guarana, gives me the energy that I need on those slow days or before a long bike ride. Partnering up with Guayaki and Sambazon for instance provides fair trade and organic ingredients in this energyrific can.

Not only does the can provide 80mg of natural caffeine, but it also tastes great too. Check out Steaz all over the place like Wegmans, Whole Foods and your local health food stores too.
Try the plain and if you feel adventurous, the lime and orange are wonderful as well.
Airforce Nutrisoda is being sold at large supermarkets. Therefore, you may have seen it around. It is a healthy alternative to the typical soda. The Radiant flavor is a lovely combination of blackberry and pomegranate. The ingredients are meant to help your skin stay healthy and youthful. Though, I don’t think it works after one can, but hey you never know.

I did enjoy it. Not too bitter, not too sweet and it does not contain sugar, so that is a plus too. Check out the facts at the Nutrisoda site.
I have reviewed the original mate before, but that was from the gourd. This time, I drank it cold and from the bottle. It’s a completely different taste and texture. The mate when it is really cold is very smooth and fruity. The Yerba Mate has all the same benefits of the loose mate, but it’s a bit unhealthier. It contains cane juice for a tad bit extra sweetness.

It’s a great pick-me-up or just a refreshing beverage overall. With antioxidants, caffeine and only 80 calories in each bottle, you can’t go wrong.
Guayaki is taking an even greater eco-friendly approach to their packaging. Read more about it in the future on Leafygreen.info or at Guayaki’s site here.
The Soda-Club, as I reviewed previously, is a unique way of making your own soda at home. It’s cheaper, healthier and more eco-friendly.
For this review, I decided to try the Lemon Lime flavor. Unlike the mainstream soda companies, the blend of lemon and lime is much lighter and less citrusy. I enjoyed the soda, it went down smoothly and no bad aftertaste.

Overall, the Lemon Lime Soda-Club flavor is a nice alternative to drinking store bought soda, unlike the Mango Peach.

The Mango Peach seems to be discontinued from the site and it’s probably because it tastes bad. Soda Club does have new flavors and some all-natural, sugar-free mixes too.

Yakima Valley Grape
Lizzy’s hips got me thirsty again. With just a few shakes this grape sparkling beverage bubbles right up. It tastes like grape soda with out the unnecessary calories. I’m getting thirsty just typing this out. It’s not organic, but it’s better than soda. There are about 120 calories though, so heads up.

Mount Fuji Apple
If you like apple juice you will love Fizzy Lizzy Mount Fuji Apple. This sparkling beverage is basically apple juice and sparkling water and I love it. I would drink this all day. It actually tastes like cider, but is much sweeter and less carbonated.
Find Fizzy Lizzy near you and grab a bottle.
Sweet Leaf Tea has a killer lineup of organic and all natural sweet teas. This is their version of a diet sweet tea. This tea is not all natural because it contains Splenda. The tea is not as sweet as the regular Sweet Leaf Original tea, but it’s all right in comparison. It has no calories and 5mg of sodium.
If you’re into diet teas that taste better than those other companies out there, try Sweet Leaf Tea. Their organics and all natural teas are wonderful as well.

I gave The Simple Kitchen another chance with their White Grape Organic Sparkling Beverage and here are the results. Ed did not like the Grapefruit, I almost couldn’t finish the Lemon and Mint, but the White Grape is different.

It actually had no taste to it. I did not taste grapes, lemon nor honey. The beverage has the same amount of calories (60) as the other beverages and is still 100% organic, but is flavorless as well. I’d be better off drinking water.
Sorry, organic doesn’t always mean great flavor.
The lemon and mint review is making the pot boil, read about it!

The Simple Kitchen, a NYC company, was founded with the idea that organic and healthy beverages can exist. The Lemon and Mint Sparkling Organic Beverage is consistent with this notion.

This beverage was not great. In fact, it was almost not worth finishing, but for the good of the review, I had to struggle to get past the puzzling taste.
The 100% organic ingredients contain lemon juice, honey and peppermint extract, however, it is definitely missing something. I do not like to speculate on what because I am not an expert. Aside from the peculiar taste, it only has 60 calories, so it is pretty healthy alternative to other beverages.
The Simple Kitchen is an eco-friendly company who uses a green printing company, biodegradable materials for their packaging and when their café opens at 361 West 17th Street in NYC, reclaimed wood will be used there.
