SkinnyPop All Natural Black Pepper Popcorn

I had first learned about SkinnyPop popcorn from Taralynn’s blog way long ago. I was able to find a bag of their original flavor just to see if all of her hype was really true, since I was particularly happy with my airpopped popcorn I make fresh. Their original flavor seemed to have exactly the right balance of seasoning – which was only sunflower oil and salt, that’s it. Only three ingredients including the popcorn, which is all natural. Perhaps they will come out with an organic version in the future?

Knowing that I already enjoyed their original flavor, I knew I had to try their new Black Pepper flavor, which I found out about while attending the Natural Products Expo East. It was just as delicious as the original flavor but with just a slight kick of black pepper. I had the intention to make caramel popcorn clusters with this new flavor and share the recipe with you, but honestly it was just too delicious to not eat right away. My tastebuds just didn’t want to wait for me to form them into a recipe, but I hope your tastebuds have more patience than mine if you use this popcorn for a recipe.

The black pepper version was super addicting, but in a great way. It made me want to eat this popcorn instead of other snacks like cookies or chips because it was really so tasty. As the ingredients state, there is no butter used but it does taste as though there is or at least the sunflower oil does a great job of tricking my brain into thinking that there is. Both of their flavors are gluten, preservative, dairy and tree free as well as Non-GMO, making them guilt free even though they taste like they should be unhealthy because of the great flavor.

I happily didn’t even have a problem with getting any kernel shells stuck in my teeth, which I find is a large concern with pre-popped popcorn. With 4 cups at 155 calories as a serving size, you won’t feel like you’re missing out. With football season here, this would make a great snack that your guests might not even know is healthy for them. Find them at your local whole foods, shoprite or other grocery store as they are widely available.
