Food for Life: Ezekiel Sprouted Grain Fettuccine

Though it isn’t the best food in terms of health, I do love pasta. I always have and always will I’m sure. Since most pasta is “enriched,” I thought I would try some healthier for me pasta. Food for Life: Ezekiel Sprouted Grain Pasta comes from the same company who make my favorite grain free bread. I’ve enjoyed many loaves of their Flax Sprouted Whole Grain Bread before I started making my own bread at home.

Figuring since I enjoyed their bread so much I would love their pasta too. Well I figured wrong, very wrong. I’m a gal that enjoys my pasta cooked al-dente; this Ezekiel pasta doesn’t know what that is. The box specified cooking time helped me to have a big pile of fettuccine that was completely stuck together even before draining. That wasn’t a huge deal really, but having a gummy/glue-like texture is a huge deal.

There was no way I was going to waste homemade sauce on that pasta, in hopes to improve the taste (or lack of.) The texture was so far off point, that I was only able to attempt to make it one more time before throwing the rest in the compost uncooked. Grain-free pasta is no match for the real thing, so I’m going to stick with the traditional enriched pasta anytime I crave it. I suggest Food for Life stays with making their delicious Ezekiel bread, it’s what they are good at.
