Cry Baby Hot Sauce from Three Hot Tamales

Cry Baby Hot Sauce, from Three Hot Tamales a New Jersey company, is a sweet and hot sauce. It’s not burn-your-face-off hot, but it is very subtle and takes a second or ten for the heat to kick in. The ingredients are simple, roasted red bell peppers, apple cider vinegar, habanero mash, jalapeno mash, sugar and kosher salt. The difference is simply that Three Hot Tamales use all fresh ingredients. Preservatives and additives are never added. The peppers are fresh, not canned and you can TASTE the difference! Kristi, from Three Hot Tamales explained that they also use as little sodium and sugar as possible. That shows. The sweetness comes from the apple cider, not from the sugar added in.

I used the Cry Baby sauce on my burrito with Lightlife’s Smart Chili. It gave it that boost of heat the burrito needed. Add some crisp lettuce and it’s all set.

In 2006, Cry Baby took first place at the Scovie Awards! This sauce is up there, so heads up! This company is small and local based out of Garfield, NJ. As a male dominated industry, many women don’t really get involved in hot sauce business, but these three women really know how to make a good sauce. I’m excited about trying my two other samples! So stay tuned!

Three Hot Tamales’ sauces are available online directly from them, or in stores locally and internationally as well as Chef Central on route 17 North in Paramus, NJ if you are nearby.
