Sustainable Group

sustainable group reviewsOne company can make a difference and I think Sustainable Group is one of the companies that does make a difference. They manufacture a slew of products geared towards offices, students and organization in general. From the pens to the CD/DVD sleeves to the 3 ring binders to the mailing labels, Sustainable Group offers a wide-array of products suitable for every situation in the workplace and at home.

I currently am using the 3 ring binders for organizing my business cards. I also use them for organizing press materials. I also have more than I can handle of CD/DVD sleeves and folders from all the press materials that I’m sent.

Sustainable Group’s products are made from recycled materials and are in the craft paper brown color making them standout from plain white.

Let’s see what these guys are going to offer next.

Moo Cards

moocardBusiness cards made with recycled paper are becoming more and more popular each day with many local print shops offer recycled paper, some offer soy ink, low VOC ink, and even non toxic solutions. However, there are not many on the web that you can visit and design your card and have it shipped out to you pretty quickly.

That is where Moo comes in.  Moo started out my making half-sized cards and the still do, however, Moo has expanded to stickers, recycled paper cards and a few other fun selections.  Moo’s web-based card designer is super easy to use and not discouraging for average Joe.

I received my Moo recycled paper cards and they look fantastic.  I did not want them to be all glossy, but I did want them to be rugged and eco-chic and I believe Moo succeeded.  The cards stand the test of the wallet, but they also come in a recycled cardboard holder.  Open that guy up and you will see something pretty cool.  I don’t want to give away what it is, but it’s neat!

I ordered some half-size card too and they are great, yet not made from recycled paper.  I wanted to feel the difference and I can tell.

Give them a try, especially because they tie in so nicely with flickr and other web 2.0 guys out there.

Mr. Ellie Pooh Elephant Dung Paper

This review comes from one of my first grade students. The class used the heart shaped poo paper to decorate the mr ellie pooh paper reviewbulletin board for Earth Day. I know Earth Day is technically over, but Every Day is Earth Day in Room 120.

The Pooh Paper is made out of elephant poop and rice. It was so cool it came in different shapes and sizes. I liked that it was made out of something that is garbage. Recycling is important because if you never recycle the Earth will be stinky! I recycle a lot to keep the Earth clean. The Earth is not a wasteland it is our home! We celebrate Earth Day to show how special the Earth is! We love the Earth and care for her. That is why we reduce, reuse, and recycle!

Take a look a the pictures and then click on over to visit Mr. Ellie Pooh’s website to see more information about this unique company who strives to change the way we use paper. Their products do not stink, that’s for sure!

Mary’s Softdough

What is softdough you ask? Soft, non-crumbly modeling dough that my kids enjoyed playing with. Yum-me! The softdough that I had smelled like peppermint; perfect for the holidays. The company says it will last for a year in a container, but mine did not last more than a month before it started crystallizing, getting hard and lost its scent too, boo hoo. It’s made in Eugene, Oregon which is cool. It was fun while it lasted.

Jumbo Triangular Color Eco Pencils

I have seen this great brand (Faber-Castell) of pencils sold at Target. The pencils are produced with 100% FSC certified reforested wood, made with total respect for the environment. The pencils are jumbo and triangular shaped which sounds weird, but the pencil actually sits in your had way better than a small or round one.

The wood is smooth and the colors are vibrant. I won’t buy any other colored pencils from now on because my kids really love these. They are a great gift for any kid with a pad of paper.

You can either purchase them locally or online from Stubby Pencil Studio.

These crayons are made from soybeans! There is no petroleum wax so they don’t flake like other crayons. They are environmentally safe and non-toxic. They draw just as good as any other crayon and they are eco-friendly! My kids love these. The box has 3 pandas on it and they love that too. The colors are great and you’d never know any difference between these and traditional crayons. The one I have is a 24 pack so there are plenty of colors to choose from.
