Solay Crystal Salt Lamps

Crystal Salt Lamps are supposedly a natural way to improve the air quality in your space. The negative ions are increased with the heating of the salt from the lamp thus benefiting people who suffer from allergies.

salt lamp review

I am not sure if the salt lamp is actually helping my allergies. The dim light makes the salt glow with a nice romantic light. However, I cannot confirm nor deny previous stated claims. There are a few different types of salt lamps (Himalayan, Polish and Persian) to choose from.

So if you’re into this type of remedy, check it out and if you run out of salt for your potato recipe, you know where you can get some extras.

    Couronne Recycled Glass Products

Think about all the vases lying around each year from the flowers you send to your mother, girlfriend or secretary. There is probably tons of glass lying around doing nothing, so why not recycle it or purchase some recycled glass?

Couronne designs glassware, plates, jars and candle holders out of recycled glass. It’s not only eco-fabulous, but it saves the virgin sand, ash and limestone from being mined.

I have a few of these products at home. Two are small containers that are good for storing pencils or pens in a conveient spot in my kitchen. I suppose I could put small flowers in the vase, but the pens work for me. The larger, green vase, is not too flowery looking but hey, it’s a vase, so it is supposed to hold flowers.

It does it’s job well and the green color reminds me of beer bottles. Check them out at Couronne’s website.

    Intoxicated Zodiac Candles and More

Intoxicated Zodiac has got to be one of the most unique websites out there for green shopping. They mix green products with alcohol and astrology and created a store full of unique, handmade candles, tote bags, muddlers and more.

Being a Virgo, a lover of liquor and a green guy, I decided to try the Virgo Soy Candle. Not only is the packaging lovely, recyclable, made from recycled materials, but it also is handmade and full of Virgo-specific ingredients.

    intoxicated zodiac candle review

With pomegranate seeds, kumquats, raw sugar and cachaca and soy wax, I was in for a fragrant treat. The aroma is citrusy and sweet at the same time and the candle lasts for up to 60 hours. I have not gotten to that point yet, but when I do, I am 10000% going to be using this fantastic votive as a glass after it is empty.

IZ really did an amazingly green job here with their candles. It came packaged with coasters so that was awesome as well.

Intoxicated Zodiac is worth visiting and bookmarking. You should also sign up for the newsletter and read the Baroscopes, they are pretty funny and sometimes even true.

    Flor Fedora Carpet Tiles

Created from 80% post consumer fibers, Flor’s Fedora Carpet Tiles are a cheap and green way of carpeting your home. The natural feel of smooth felt resembles a fedora hat, hence the name. My home does not have hardwood floors, so I decided to test the squares in my kitchen on top of the vinyl that came with the condo. Now, vinyl is really bad for the environment, I know, but throwing it into the landfills is even worse, so placing carpet squares over the vinyl can transform a floor from something bad and ugly to something fun and eco-friendly if you choose a green product.

    flor reviews

Flor’s tiles are eco-friendly and surprisingly rugged and practical. The practicality lies with the ease of setting up and removing. The setup is simple. Place the adhesive sticker down and line up the tiles corner to corner. Do this for the entire area and watch after a few seconds the tiles sit snuggly in their desired location.

That processes was completely unexpected, in fact, I thought the tiles were going to continue to shift around and move all willy nilly around the kitchen. I was very shocked and pleasantly surprised that I was incorrect in my prejudgment.

I selected two colors, the Walnut and the Chartreuse for my kitchen. I positioned the tiles between the stove and the sink where it would get the most use and abuse. Water splashing onto the floor, food scraps from the oven and prep area and yet the tiles stayed secure. They were very easy to clean to. Just use a broom or a vacuum if you really have a mess and you’re all set. The water just dissolved away for the few times the tiles got wet.

The tiles are priced decently and really stand out in the room, which makes people talk about them too. You can really transform a space into something different with Flor’s green carpet squares, so check them out. Flor has many other options as well, but not many are as green as these little guys.

    Flip Flop Rug

My recycled car tire welcome mat had to be relocated to a new area to make room for the new, bright and squishy flip flop floor mat. The rugged black tire mat was getting boring to look at and made my condo entryway look stale. I opted to move it to another location and replace it with a brightly colored mat made of leftovers from a flip flop company. The remnants are arranged in a diamond pattern and are really cushiony and soft.

I like the colors and the feel both with and without shoes, but the pattern leaves much to be desired. I actually think the welcome mat would look even better in a random pattern or with one type of remnant.

Other than the pattern, I really like the welcome mat. I did not get rid of my old recycled tire welcome mat. It’s just inside now and being used differently, no worries.

You can buy the floor mat from VivaTerra. They offer all sorts of recycled products, such as rice paper bags turned laundry baskets and even more!

    Becky Redman

I Heart the Environment. That’s obvious because I launched Leafygreen.info over a year ago with all good intentions of creating a site for the green-minded individual who wants to go greener.

Becky Redman’s unique messages are cheeky, feisty and a bit bold, but I heart her ideas. Screened on a beige canvas bag, the passive color of white lettering boldly declares Fucking Recycle printed in the classic font Helvetica inside a large block of light pink. That statement right there says it all. The bag is a statement that recycling is no joke and it should not be taken lightly. The bag is strong and sturdy and rather large too. I have brought it shopping to all types of stores. I am hesitant to use it at the grocery store for fear that it will get dirty.

    Becky Redman Fucking Recycle

The bag is quite spacious. I have managed to fit two days worth of clothes for a weekend trip and more. It’s awesome. Lala says that it’s too feminine to walk around with, so she always steals it, but I think she loves it more than me. What do you think of the bag? It’s totally masculine!

Swear words are not always the answer, but it gets the point across when you need to, so Fucking Recycle! It’s the right thing to do.

    Becky Redman Fucking Recycle

Becky hearts the environment too. She even made an awesome poster on recycled paper to prove it. As seen proudly mounted on my living room wall, I’m thrilled that someone made such an appealing poster. Becky’s poster is printed on lightweight recycled paper, but it’s in Metric sizes (A1), so be warned if you want to mount it in a frame.

The small red heart is centered on the page with the words, The Environment, on the bottom of the poster. The bold black Helvetica really exhibits the classic feel to the poster. I love the poster because it looks great, says a message and has the recycled look to it. Becky is based out of the UK, so the poster was shipped overseas and it shows, but I think that adds to the character of the poster itself.

    i heart the environment

If you don’t like either of those statements, I am sure you will be able to find something you will like. Check out Becky’s website which doubles as her online art gallery. It’s truly wonderful and eye-catching. Mr. T likes it too!
