Melissas Organic Grinders

Spices in convenient grinder packaging are not a new idea but organic spices are. I have been actively using the Garlic & Herb Sea Salt, the Chile Seasoning, the Italian Seasoning and the Rainbow Peppercorn Seasoning recently and they are all hits. I like the easily-fresh-ground spices, the fun lid for easy measuring and, of course, the flavor.

The Italian Seasoning contains the traditional Italian spices like basil, oregano, salt and pepper. It is very fresh tasting and works really well in pasta sauce and salads. It is sort of salty, however.

The Rainbow Peppercorn is full of all sorts of peppercorns for a crazy pepper flavor. I like it, but it does not go well with everything like black peppercorns would.

The Garlic & Herb Sea Salt is very similar to the Italian Seasoning. It’s saltier and less herby, but the garlic is definitely present.

My favorite is the Chile Seasoning. From the mellow to the hot, you will find a wide range of chile spices in this little container. Add however much you want into the mix and you are all set for rice and beans.

There are more Organic Grinders from Melissa, but we’ll get to those reviews soon. Check back with us.

Clorox Green Works Cleaning Products

Everyone hates cleaning the house. This is because it is time consuming, and we end up inhaling all kinds of chemicals from products that claim to “clean” but really may be doing more harm than good to our bodies. That is why the product line Clorox Green Works is amazing! My husband and I split up the cleaning in the house to try out all five of these new products.

The Green Works all-purpose cleaner is used for our kitchen, bathroom, and generally on any mess we can find. All of these products do not smell like your typically cleaner. They all smell faintly of coconut, and disinfect just as well as any cleaner we have tried before.

The Green Works natural and glass surface cleaner is used on our mirrors, glass, and our wood kitchen table. It is not streaky, and it dries quickly and nicely.

The Green Works natural bathroom cleaner and natural toilet bowl cleaner are obviously used to keep our bathrooms clean. The bathroom is such a small area where it is easy to inhale too many harsh chemicals. We did not feel we had to leave the room immediately after scrubbing.

The Green Works natural dilutable cleaner can be used for various surfaces, but it is best for cleaning the kitchen floor. It is much better than the lemon Pine Sol that I have been using for years, which smells neither of real lemons or pine.

All these products are made from plant and mineral based materials. The ingredients are primarily: coconut based cleaning agents, corn-based ethanol, filtered water, and essential lemon oil.

According to the makers of Clorox: “When we created Green Works natural cleaners, we defined natural using three core principles. The ingredients must come from renewable resources, be biodegradable and free of petrochemicals. Our stringent standard sets the bar for natural cleaning very high, but we think it’s worth it.”

Kudos to Clorox for taking cleaning to a whole new “green” level! Check out their website for more detailed information on this excellent and healthy new line of cleaning products.

Equal Exchange Cranberries and Pecans

Making salads is an art and I think I made a Mondrian with my creation. Mixed baby romaine and other greens with crumbled Gorgonzola cheese, grape tomatoes, Equal Exchange Cranberries and Pecans and some Italian seasoning. No dressing is even required!

The pecans are salted minimally and the cranberries are sweet and juicy for dried cranberries. The creamy Gorgonzola and the crunchy, organic pecans are just so wonderful together that I ate this salad 5 days in a row. I only like cranberries when they are dried, and these are great.

I have not been disappointed with Equal Exchange’s fair trade product thus far.

Me To We Bamboo Shoots Shirt

I love the softness of bamboo, especially shirts, and this is no exception. The breathable, lightweight, bamboo, organic cotton and spandex shirt is stylish and comfortable. Me To We, from Canada, produces many different styles of shirts for both men and women.
me to we review

The Bamboo Shoots long sleeve shirt is what I’m talking about today. Bamboo seems like it would not be soft, but it is, so do not think otherwise. Like, ultrasoft and breathable. I like the print of the shirt and not just because of its trendy, irregular positioning of the design. Normally, I do not go for big and bold designs, but when it comes to green, I’m all for it. The shirt is good for spring or summer nights when there is a crisp breeze but you still want to wear shorts. The asphalt color is a good idea for the summer too.

Me To We is one of those companies, like Newman’s Own, who give back most of their profits to charities and that is remarkable.

We will be reviewing more of Me To We’s line soon too, so come on back.

Splaff Belt

I really liked Zero Per Gallon’s recycled bike tire belt, but Splaff’s is even better. The Splaff belt looks more like a belt than a tire whereas the ZPG is basically an inner tube with Velcro. I am, in fact, wearing the ZPG belt while I write this review after a bike ride, but the Splaff belt is classier and more functional.

The recycled inner tube and hemp fabric liner is strong and durable; the grommets are just my style as well. The dark black belt with silver accents, for me, is an instant hit. The size is pretty true, meaning, I have a 33 waist and the medium fits snugly.

Splaff also produces wallets, guitar straps and flip flops and we’ll be reviewing some of this soon, so check back with us.
