These one of a kind, organic shirts are wonderful. The fit is perfect; the medium fits like a medium should. The shirt is soft and not itchy and it’s made from organic cotton.
Now, let’s focus on the idea that makes We Add Up special. We Add Up is an idea that allows individuals to have a voice to make a change. You can choose from preset designs on the back of the shirt or all of the designs if you dare. These designs are not just graphics, they are somethings as the founders, Judy and Jill put it. Do you recycle, do you shower together, did you go organic, do you carpool? The list goes on. Each something is your change and the front of the shirt has a unique number that only you have.

See me, I’m not only wearing my We Add Up shirt, but I’m rocking my Nau shorts as well.

The concept is unique and the shirts fit well. I love it and I think everyone needs to join. Check out weaddup.com for more info on fundraising or to get counted in!

Click this link, both Leafygreen.info and We Add Up will benefit!
Please help us improve. Fill out this brief survey. It will just take a minute.

Sweet Avenue Bakery graciously invited me over for their pre-Oscar vegan ice cream tasting hosted by Wheeler’s Frozen Desserts. Well worth the 4 mile commute to Rutherford. Emily and Ashley tried to make me guess their special flavors. It was tough and I failed miserably, but I could pick out some key ingredients.

I tried five different vegan ice creams and sorbets. I had the Peanut Butter, Black Russian (mystery flavor #1), Margarita Sorbet (mystery flavor #2), Chocolate and Chocolate Sorbet.
The best flavor, hands down, was the Peanut Butter. I could taste the peanut butter and the creamy vegan ice cream just made it melt together so nicely. I did not like the Chocolate because it had chunks of coconut, even though they assured me it did not. I liked the others, but my second favorite was the Black Russian.
Good news though, Wheeler’s is opening a storefront, so the next time you are in Boston, head over. It will be opening on Mass Ave near Huntington. Apparently this is a prime location.
Thank you to Dani and Jake and the always-spectacular crew of Sweet Ave and to Wheeler’s for providing the goodies.

Feel free to check out Wheeler’s online. Sweet Ave put up some pictures of the event also. Look closely; you may just see someone that wrote this review

Why spend money on cleaning products for your fruits and vegetables when you can just use tap water? The lotus Sanitizing System from Tersano makes this dream come to fruition. This countertop appliance resembles a large bowl and uses technology to oxygenate water. The Oxyshield technology uses ordinary tap water and allows you to effectively clean fruits and vegetables and even your countertops!
To find out more about lotus, check their website for all the details.
Oxyshield adds ozone to water thus creating a highly effective and environmentally safe cleaning product. The system that I am using contains a spray bottle for a few items or a large bowl for multiple items. It also contains refill cartridges and micro fiber cloths. Tersano also sells other parts such as toothbrushes and baby bottle cleaners.

I’ve been using the lotus sanitizing system for a few months and I have to admit, my produce is cleaner than it was just by using basic soap and water or vegetable wash. The best part is, NO chemicals are added to the produce.
The system takes a few minutes to oxygenate the water, but there is a handy percent counter to help you pass the time. I like how clean the produce not only looks but feels after the initial washing. Maybe it’s my imagination, but my produce looks cleaner and brighter then it did at the store.
You can purchase lotus systems online as well as retailers such as Linens n Things, Bed, Bath and Beyond and Costco.
Check it out on the web and see what other people think, but get it now before it sells out because it’s a great product!

Replacing light bulbs are the easiest thing you can do to go green. CFLs are available everywhere, but have you ever wanted to replace your halogens?
Lamina is making it easy to change your bulbs. Lamina’s proprietary technology combines LED bulbs in a halogen form factor. The brightness of the bulbs, the energy saved and the lack of heat are just three of the benefits to choosing Lamina Sol bulbs.

I am not currently using the bulbs in a fixture, rather, in a test socket. I have tested all three Sol models. The Warm White (Narrow Flood), Daylight White (Narrow Flood) and TruColor (Wide Flood) and I have to say, they all compare in brightness to other bulbs of this form factor.
I have tested the bulbs in different rooms in my condo, for mood lighting or while I am getting ready for work in the morning. I like the bulbs and they would work really well in track lighting or to accent your wall art.
Currently, the Lamina Sol light bulbs have found a home over my bed. The Wide Flood TruColor is the bulb of choice because it’s the best to illuminate my dark room.

You can read more about Lamina’s Sol products or their other products on their website. There are some things to remember though, Lamina’s bulbs barely produce any carbon and you are going to save money in the long run. Think CFL but in a halogen form factor.

Another exciting week here at Leafygreen.info. We attended the Beer Festival last weekend in Atlantic City. It was a blast. Anyone see us there? We had cowboy hats on and Leafygreen.info shirts, but so many other people did too.
On April 1, we will be going to The Nets Go Green game in lovely East Rutherford, New Jersey. The New Jersey Nets are going green all over the place. I’ve been using the Dr. Nick’s White & Healthy products for a few weeks now and I don’t see a difference (in terms of whiteness), but at least I know I’m not filling my mouth with a bunch of chemicals.
I don’t want to bore you with all the details of the ingredients, however, some important facts are that Dr. Nick’s products do not contain alcohol, artificial colors, sweeteners, sodium laurel sulphate, or fluoride. The natural mint oil flavors all of Dr. Nick’s products.

I enjoy the toothpaste, actually, it foams well and leaves my mouth fresh, but the mouthwash actually leaves my mouth dry. I need to rinse with water for almost a minute after using the mouthwash in an effort to rid my mouth of the bad taste. I really like the breath spray and the tongue scraper, they are fun and work well.
If I had to choose between Tom’s of Maine and Dr. Nick’s, I would pick Tom’s. Dr. Nick’s are not all natural/organic, nor do they claim to be but it is at least better than those chock-full-of-chemical companies.
I don’t have to hype Cucharamama more, but I find it necessary. If you want unique South American food with a hip, urban twist, check out Cucharamama in Hoboken, NJ.

There is not much for vegetarians and vegans, but whatever you choose will make your taste buds screaming for more and more. Make sure you try the Croquetas de Arroz y Queso, Salsa de Ají Mirasol, it’s like butter. Though there are not that many choices for vegetarians, I still managed to leave stuffed and smiling.
Next time, I will leave room for dessert, so I can have some Acai Ice Cream, the traditional way.

There is nothing I like better than beauty products that actually do what they promise, and that is exactly what Nature Girl products do. Even better, Nature Girl donates a large percent of their profits to environmental causes.
I first made my husband rub my feet with the Flower Power Botanical Body Lotion. The lotion was light and airy, and the scents of organic flower oils and herbal extracts were not overpowering at all. It is a perfect everyday lotion. Lovely.

Next, I scrubbed up with the I Love Organic - Organic Sugar Scrub. I have tried many scrubs before, but I have to say that this one, with huge sugar crystals and a hint of lemon peel, made my winter thighs summer soft. Even after a week, my thighs are still smooth! Believe it.
Lastly, after my shower, I slathered on Nature Love Shea Butter Body Balm. Not only does this body butter have a soothing lavender scent, but it also is not heavy on the skin. Shea butter can tend to be too thick for me, but this was a perfect blend that went on clean and kept my skin nourished all day, just as it promised.
So ladies, visit www.nature-girl.com and stock up on these products. Although on the expensive side, they are worth every penny.
