Eco-fashion is becoming huge. I am glad I am part of the solution while it grows. Greentee clothing from Florida is known for organic cotton and bamboo shirts that have artsy designs. Not preachy, eco-chic designs, but beautiful pieces of art.

I do not like white T-shirts but I couldn’t resist a shirt made from organic cotton and bamboo. The design of a Scissor Bird is beautiful and water-based ink keeps the design perfectly in place.
The shirt is soft and comfortable. The fit of the shirt is similar to American Apparel, which means it fits like it should.
By purchasing a shirt from green tees, you are supporting a great company and of course the environment.
Feel free to check out green tee’s website, blog or online store.

In Fair Lawn, New Jersey, sits a small cafe and health food store called Natural Way Cafe. The menu is pretty consistent. They have small sandwiches, soups and salads. It’s mostly vegan, but there are vegetarian selections as well. Lala and I headed there one afternoon for a quick bite.
We each had soup. I had the Miso with Goji Berries. Very good and the berries added a unique twist to an already good soup. We shared Hai Dai, basically a stuffed cucumber of tomato, kelp and more cucumber. We also shared Brown Tofu Skin stuffed with potato, carrots and edamame. We also had some salad.
The food was excellent and they have a small selection of health products like vitamins, beverages, berries, soy products, yerba mate, etc.
Check them out on the web at NaturalWayCafe.com or stop by 23-25 Broadway in Fair Lawn.

The Simple Kitchen, a NYC company, was founded with the idea that organic and healthy beverages can exist. The Lemon and Mint Sparkling Organic Beverage is consistent with this notion.

This beverage was not great. In fact, it was almost not worth finishing, but for the good of the review, I had to struggle to get past the puzzling taste.
The 100% organic ingredients contain lemon juice, honey and peppermint extract, however, it is definitely missing something. I do not like to speculate on what because I am not an expert. Aside from the peculiar taste, it only has 60 calories, so it is pretty healthy alternative to other beverages.
The Simple Kitchen is an eco-friendly company who uses a green printing company, biodegradable materials for their packaging and when their café opens at 361 West 17th Street in NYC, reclaimed wood will be used there.

Raw Indulgence founder Alice Benedetto, a registered nurse and natural foods chef, developed a passion for preparing and eating raw foods. She started making them as an alternative to high sugar processed snacks for her high school son. The big thing these days the packaged bar world is “raw.” The idea of “raw” food is to eat nothing cooked or above 118 degrees Fahrenheit. In addition to fruits, nuts and vegetables in their pure state, raw foods tend to have a good amount of dehydrating and rehydrating to give nuts and grains various textures. Raw Revolution bars also contain no artificial ingredients, refined sugars, preservatives, gluten, dairy or soy. Processed foods such as protein isolates and grain based fillers are acidic and cause fermentation in the body. Their uncooked, somewhat gummy quality is either something you love or hate. Nutritionally, they run the gamut, usually offering decent amounts of fiber, protein and varying amounts of fat (and calorie quotients). Also, check the label for fat content. Some bars can pack a hefty fat dose, which will slow your digestion.

With abundance of new bars on the market, you might need to sample a few for some quick energy before you try to figure out which one best suits your needs, dislikes and anatomy. Given all the versions, including women-only, high-protein, and meal-replacement bars, it’s crucial to read labels carefully if you want to fuel up properly. The standard high-carb bars, such as the well known PowerBar and Clif Bar, are great for fueling before, during and after an activity because, as with sports drinks and gels, they introduce a quick release of carbs into the blood stream. About 70 percent of their carbohydrate calories come from grains (oats and rice crisps) and sugars (brown-rice syrup and sucrose), with some bars containing fruit and nuts, which are the most natural and one of the easiest carb sources to digest quickly.
This treat came in handy the other day before a run. I ate about half of it before I went out for a short 2 mile run. I hadn’t eaten anything since the night before, and swilled down the half with some coffee and a little bit of water. It gave me a nice boost of energy and strength. It’s got a nice cashew flavor(my favorite nut) on the inside, with hints of honey and agave nectar as sweeteners. I say hint, because the tendency is to overwhelm the rest of the bar with the sweetener flavors. Overall I was really impressed with this bar. My only complaint was the high calorie content. Something like 290 calories versus say something like 220 for a PowerBar and Clif Bar.

Smooth and silky, the Milk and Honey Soap from US Wellness, applies nicely and doesn’t leave a residue. Local, grass-fed, cattle provide the milk and Wisconsin wild bees provide the honey.

My grandmother never made soap, but if she did, it may have been like this.
I just returned from Sweet Avenue’s Vegan Ice Cream Tasting. It was a pleasure to enjoy the event with great people and fun too boot! Review to follow soon.

The Collaborator Doppelbock is Flying Dog’s unique approach to creating a unique beer. Collaborator was born as result of the Open Source Beer Project. Homebrewers around the country submitted their ideas and it was born. That sums it up easily, but you can read more about Open Source here.

The brew itself is straightforward Doppelbock. It’s a strong and malty beer with a slight roasted taste to it.
Flying Dog is one of the leaders in craft beers and this is another great example. If you are headed to the Atlantic City Beer Festival, drop by their booth.
Cheers!
Made from organic cotton, bamboo and a drop of polyester, these sweatpants from HTnatural are the best sweatpants ever. They are comfortable, warm, soft, have pockets and a drawstring. They look good on my girlfriend too. I love them, especially because they are tagless. They rule!

Rock these sweatpants and the L King Hoodie, throw back some organic beer and you are all set for a lovely evening of relaxation.

Soy On The Go, a new product by Zen Soy are individual servings of soymilk. The cappuccino flavored soymilk really sounded good, but after trying it, I was rather disappointed. This soymilk is organic, non GMO, Vegan and all that, but one thing it was missing was flavor. It definitely needed more of a kick.

A positive aspect of Soy on The Go is the packaging. It’s packed in Tetrapaks and that makes me happy. Hopefully the vanilla and chocolate soymilk taste better. Come back soon for those reviews.
