AeroGarden by AeroGrow

In the next few weeks you will see random pictures of the AeroGarden. This indoor vegetable and herb garden will hopefully turn out as it is supposed to. Sometimes I will post a sentence or two of what is going on, other times it will just be a picture.

Keep an eye out and watch the progress as it unfolds. These two pictures are from Day 3 and as you can see, there are no sprouts yet.

Wild Garden Cinnamon Sugar Baked Pita Chips Review

Pita Chips for dessert? That’s correct. Sugary and cinnamony baked wheat pita chips from Wild Garden are all natural, and contain no saturated fat, no GMO’s, no cholesterol, no hydrogenated oils and no transfats.

They don’t really pair too well with hummus, but they are good nonetheless. Crush some up and add them to ice cream or make granola with them. Eat them plain, just as a post dinner snack. For a snack food, they aren’t too high in sugar and carbs either.

Wild Garden’s site has links to tons of info. Check that out here. Click here to see where you can purchase Wild Garden products.

    EATware Review

Attention Food Service Industry and especially Eco-Conscious Restaurants, EATware is another solution for going green. EATware is a decomposable and biodegradable, heat resistant, microwave, freezer and steamer safe, all natural, no chemical added single use product. (Yes, I know what you’re thinking. Single use = non green).

That sure is a mouthful, but this product is unique and here’s why: its combination of fibers from bamboo, sugar cane pulp, starch and water create a base for molding all sorts of different sizes and shapes. You can purchase resealable bowls and containers, lunch trays, whole or divided plates and more.

In the next two weeks, I am going to take snapshots of EATware’s products in water to see how it works. Take a look here for the photos. EATware uses proprietary additives called EATplus, all found in nature, to create this innovative product. EATware has been around since 1997 and started commercializing their products since 2002.

    EATware biodegradable plates

The goals of EATware are basically to create eco-friendly, single use products that will degrade in a short time and cause no harm to the Earth.

There is so much to tell you about EATware, visit back soon to stay up to date.

Leafygreen.info does not like single use containers in general, due to the harmful effects on the Earth and I feel that EATware’s on to something great and it will be neat to watch what happens.

    Honest Beverages Sublime Mate

When Honest Beverages combined organic limeade, mate and a hint of ginger together, they end up creating a tangy and refreshing beverage. The single use, glass bottle contains only 80 calories, no fat and 10 grams of sugar.

    honest tea sublime yerba mate

Recently, Honest released the Sublime Mate, their first Yerba Mate drink and I like it. To be honest, I would not go out of my way to purchase it, because it’s not my favorite flavor combinations, but it’s good if you’re into a tart mate. Just make sure you drink it cold. A big plus, however, is the fact that it’s certified organic and that makes me smile.

Mate does have some amazing healing powers, so you may want to try it out.

Chipotle Franks and Tofurky Pepper Deli Slices Review

chipotle tofurky frank with vegan baked beans

Tofurky is making me more excited to be veg recently. The chipotle flavored franks are delicious. They are just as plump and they cook up as nicely as the other franks which I’ve posted about earlier. However, unlike those franks, the mildly spicy, slightly smokey flavor from the chipotles really set these franks apart. They go really well with baked beans. If you want my secret recipe for baked beans, drop me an email. The same is true for the Peppered Deli Slices, the peppery flavor tastes like the “turkey” was dry rubbed. It’s a really nice difference from the plain deli slices that I didn’t care for.

    tofurky deli slices

Vegetarians and non don’t always like eating soy-based hot dogs due to their odd consistencies and textures. I think if you give the Tofurky brand a chance, you will like them.

    Flying Dog’s DogtoberFest Review

    DOGtoberfest

Flying Dog is a great brewery, as I’ve talked about before. They are environmentally friendly, put out a good beer, and are techno-savvy too. Octoberfest beers are always popular and for good reason. They are dark, very flavorful, full of hops and malt. This years Dogtoberfest blends five german malts for a complex flavor.

It’s a dark, slightly spicy beer with a hint of fruit. Other sites do a much more in depth review. Flying Dog is changing the craft beer market in my opinion, so I’d suggest checking them out whenever possible. Another way Flying Dog is changing the market is by starting new sites and ventures such as BeerDinners.com.

BeerDinners.com is a pairing site, devoted to pairing beer with food at restaurants around the country and at the comfort of your home as well. If you are in the mood for a good octoberfest beer and some food to go along with it, check out FlyingDogAles.com and BeerDinners.com.

Hopefully, Flying Dog will be at the Atlantic City Beer Festival in March this year again.

You can read more about Flying Dog by clicking this link. Rest In Peace to Michael Jackson, the most influention beer writer of all time. He passed recently.

    Simple Shoes Blottoe Bag Review

    simple shoes blottoe bag

I love messenger bags because they are more comfortable than regular backpacks and they are much less obtrusive to carry. The Blottoe Bag from Simple Shoes is part of the Green Toe line. It’s made from organic cotton/linen, metal zippers with PET bases, and unfinished brass hardware.

The design is simple and there isn’t much room, but my MacBook fits inside nicely. I wouldn’t use this bag, however, on long trips due to the minimal padding, but it’s perfect for taking to a friends house or stashing a hoagie (as the site says).

I was told that it looks like a murse, but I don’t think it looks too much like one. Either way, I’m proud to wear it.

Simple has also released a new line of sneaker/shoes called ecosneaks. To read more Simple Shoe reviews, follow this link or visit simpleshoes.com

    A few goings ons…

Nau has officially decided to donate 5% of their profits for charitable donations. This is big big news. Most for profit companies donate 1/2% of their profits. Nau, a trend setting, technical and outdoor apparel company and a loyal supporter of Leafygreen.info has new apparel out for sale now. It’s the Fall 07 line soon to be followed by the Winter line coming in October.

Nau’s four stores are also having special events where they are going to hand their checks over to the charities. I hope they use the giant novelty checks. I love those!

Amy’s has free shipping on any order totally over $30. Check that out here.

Also, I will be going on my second and final camping trip of the season this Friday. I can’t wait to wear my Patagonia Fleece and use my All Terrain Bug Spray.
