Goji Berries

Sunfood Nutrition is the World’s Leading Source for Superfoods and Natural Lifestlye Products according to their website. The website, sunfood.com has an amazing selection of whole, natural and organic foods, natural lifestyle products, body care and more. One of the unique and interesting foods on the site are Goji Berries also known as Wolfberries. The Goji Berry is a Chinese berry similar to a cross between a cherry and a cranberry.

The Goji Berry is not known for its taste, rather, it is known for it’s nutritional values and medicinal purposes. Newman’s Own Organics Cat Food Review

Since, I do not eat animals, I could not test the cat food myself, but I had two cats, Sebastian and Timmy, try it out and let me know how it tasted. These cats are pretty picky, I have to say. Timmy’s a copycat and will do what his big brother does. They usually don’t like most wet pate food nor do they like big chunks in the chunky food. This was the case again with the canned Newman’s Own food. They just don’t eat it, however, they did eat the Newman’s Own Organics Adult Cat Dry Formula.

This cat food is made from all natural, organic food including peas, oats, carrots, chicken, soy meal, brown rice, flax seed and never from by-products, chemicals, antibiotics or steroids, wheat or corn, artificial flavors. This shows. You can see chunks of different colors in the tiny, manageable pieces. The kitties love tossing the food all over the place since it’s so small, but they eat it all up at every serving.

So, pet lovers, I’d grab this food in a heartbeat over the other brands that are full of fillers and chemicals. The cats seem to love it and I heard a rumor that Mr. Paul Newman himself has been known to eat the dog food on a bet.

NOO has a FAQ for all your questions and if that doesn’t help, contact them for more information.

So, if you know anyone that wants the last two cans of NOO cat food, let me know and I’ll hook you up.

Drink Up! Guayaki Yerba Mate Review.

Guayaki pronounced Gwy-uh-KEE is a region in the rainforests of Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil and the home of the yerba mate tree. This tree has a long tradition of healing powers similar to green teas. Mate’s benefits include clearing your mind, boosting your energy, allergy support, weight control and boosting the immune system. Check out more benefits by clicking here.

I have to admit, I was nervous about trying this difficult to pronounce drink, but I figured it can’t be that bad. I was surprised, it’s actually very tasty. It tastes like a generic black iced tea, but very sweet and with some unique characteristics. I can’t really point out what they are, it’s sweet, heavy, yet refreshing. I tried both the Traditional and the Pure Mind Pom flavors and they were very similar. The Pure Mind has so many antioxidants that my senses instantly started working again, my nose stopped doing it’s normal summertime allergy sneezing thing it always does and I gained some nice energy to continue my busy work day.

The Mate has approximately the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee, but there are other vitamins and minerals mixed in with balance out the buzz from the caffeine. There are more antioxidants in a bottle of Mate then then a cup of orange juice or green tea.

The Mate is organic and Guayaki also sells free trade, traditional Gourds and other Mate accessories. I’d really suggest trying out the beverage. Here’s a list of where you can find it locally or you can purchase it from the website. It gets shipped in eco-friendly packaging. Guayaki also gives back to the people and the rainforests.

There will be more reviews to come, so stay tuned.

Hahnemuhle Fine Art Paper Review

Recently I posted a review on the Crane Papers and said how I will be reviewing more papers as they are sent to me. I have recently acquired Hahnemuhle Fine Art Papers and have done tests on the most appealing paper choices. I selected 4 papers out of the 9 in the pack. Hahnemuhle also do not bleach their papers and do offer a humane & animal friendly selection.

Hahnemuhle has designed a beautiful 100% rag (cotton) paper of which they call William Turner. This paper has a whiteness of 99 where as the Crane papers were only 91. The William Turner paper has so much texture it has a true museum quality to it. Its touch is soft and bends without cracking. When printing, the inks are absorbed deep into the paper and do not bleed. The test image I used on all of these papers is of a colored scene designed by Colorvision for their print calibration software. This image is supposed to be printed using the AdobeRGB1998 color profile, not the paper manufactures color profile. The densitometer reading from Colorvision’s PrintFixPlus the blackest black is reading at 1 where true black is 0 and the whitest white is reading at 240 out of 255.

Next I tested the Hahnemuhle German Etching Paper which is very similar to the William Turner paper except more of an off white tone. Although there is a lot of texture in the paper, it is not as friendly as the William Turner. The print was equally as sharp and also did not bleed at all. The black reading is still 1, but the white reading is at 234. This is only because of the paper tint.

I tried to test Hahnemuhle’s standard Fine Art photo paper which is most likely designed for a consumer based inkjet paper, but it crumbled in the machine.

My last test was the Hahnemuhle Fine Art Pearl Paper. Also with a white brightness of 99 this paper absorbed the ink below the surface and also above the surface on the gloss finish. This design of paper keeps the colors dynamic and contrast high while also giving a very sharp image. This is one of the sharpest papers I have yet to see. At one spot in the image I actually achieved a black point of 0. My whites are still at the 240 range which is still not bad. This is a paper that would be used in a photographers portfolio rather than on a wall.

Patagonia Piqué Polo Shirt Review

patagonia piqué polo shirt

M’s Vitaliti Piqué Polo Shirt by Patagonia is a lightweight organic cotton/recycled polyester blend polo shirt. The Chalk Blue is not as bright as I’d like the blue to be, but there are other colors to choose from. The shirt is designed to keep moisture away and keep you comfortable on long flights, camping, and normal running around and it does just that. The recycled polyester is the reason why. The feature I really liked is the hidden snaps for buttoning the shirt up. Most shirts contain buttons, however, this is unique from other polos.

The fit of the shirt is regular. Not slim cut and not too large. I wear a medium to large normally and the medium fits a little too big for my tastes, but it’s perfect for work. There’s room to move and stretch and the shirt doesn’t get all wrinkly either.

Unlike organic foods, you can’t taste the difference in organic cotton compared to nonorganic cotton, but you can rest assured that the cotton from Patagonia is free of pesticides, fertilizers, herbacides and other chemicals that genetically modify the cotton. Patagonia is known worldwide for their commitment to the enviornment. Here’s what they do to promote the green life.

Check out The Cleanest Line and read the Patagonia blog. Lastly, do you have old Patagonia garments that you dont want anymore? Don’t just send them to the Salvation Army, recycle them here.
