I read on thebrewsite.com that Flying Dog Brewery was going to have an “open source beer”, so needless to say, I am curious. I checked out opensourcebeerproject.com and it’s very true. Flying Dog is in fact, not only a green brewery, but totally down with technology and the web2.0 craze. If you don’t know what open source refers to, it’s OK. I’ll explain it. It’s basically where multiple people work collaboratively on a project together. Usually it has to do with software. The biggest project I can think of is Firefox, but there are plenty of others. Just by reading my site, Leafygreen.info, you are using an open source app called Wordpress. So, the Open Source Beer Project is going to be awesome. Go check it out.
Here’s why…
flyingdogales.com has flash, java, etc
flyingdognews.com is a blog for Flying Dog news
flyingdogblog.com is a blog for Flying Dog blog posts.
They also use some fancy looking wordpress themes on their blogs. Normally I wouldn’t post this type of stuff on Leafygreen.info, but I have reviewed Flying Dog beer in the past and I have to say their beer is great, but now… It’s tastes even better since they are so web2.0.
And to keep this post semi-green, “The [Flying Dog] Denver brewery utilizes cutting-edge technologies to aid in water conservation and to ensure the same great drinking experience time after time.”

First, click here if you want to see pictures of my car in action, then continue reading below.
Eco Touch is a simple, waterless car washing system. That sound pretty complicated. It’s 100% not difficult at all. The Eco Touch system requires three parts. The waterless spray, microfiber towels and some elbow grease. First you spray the car with the waterless product and wipe it clean. Then use another clean towel to dry it off and give it that extra shine. Note that Eco Touch is not that great on really grimy surfaces, so remember that. My car was really dirty and dusty. I actually hadn’t washed it since the fall. The Eco Touch brought back the shine that it used to have. The 22oz kit comes with 4 microfiber towels and one 22oz waterless spray. It’s enough for 4-8 washes and for under $20, you not only save the environment, you save money in traditional pay car washes.
It took me a good 30 minutes to clean my car with Eco Touch. I think if i wash it again, this weekend, it will really shine. My car was dirty to say the least. Eco Touch really took care of most of the dirt, but there is always more. I was very pleased with Eco Touch and I want to recommend it to anyone who wants to wash their car without water.
Another great benefit to Eco Touch is the mobility and portability. In my condo complex, I do not have access to a hose, so the traditional spray down the car method doesn’t work, plus it’s a waste of resources. I could bring a bucket of water downstairs and wash, but that again is a waste or water and would not work well. The waterless system is perfect. I don’t need a bucket, nor a hose, I simply need the spray and a few towels.
The owner and founder James Dudra is an aspiring ecopreneur and he really has a great idea and product. Please go check out Eco Touch now and help to change the car washing business, one spray at a time.

Ingredients:
1 large green bell pepper
1 small yellow onion
2 packages of pierogie from Piast. One potato and cheese, the other sweet cabbage
1/2 block of cheddar or jack cheese
1 package of Organic Tempeh Fakin’ Bacon Strips
The way I make pierogie is simple, but time consuming. First, boil, then fry lightly until crisp. Combine all other ingredients into a dish and cover with cheese then bake on 300 until the cheese melts. I added some sweet and spicy Tabasco brand sauce for color and a bit of flavor.
I think it comes out nice and tender, but not too crispy and not too soggy this way. The tempeh did not really match the other flavors, so next time, I won’t be adding it in. However, Lightlife does make good stuff. I’ve also added the tempeh onto a veggie burger and it worked really nicely. Try it out.
Overall it was good. I’ve never had sweet cabbage pierogie and I have to say, it was so good. It reminded me of chinese spring rolls.

Newman’s Own Organics has Wintermints and Peppermints organic mints for those times you need a breathe mint. The mints are not clean and bright white. They are not perfectly circular and lustrous. These mints are raw and rough, off white with other shades of white and brown mixed in. The mints contain 5 ingredients which you can actually pronounce. They are not sugar free, but they only contain 2 grams of sugar for 10 calories total per 3 pieces.
I like them because there are no chemicals and they do not looked bleached and lustrous. They look raw and real. They’re good and tasty. They are also vegetarian & vegan unlike the Altoids brand.

Lightlife makes a vegetarian deli alternative. I had the Smoked Turkey Style and Fat Free American Cheese wrapped in a whole wheat burrito shell. I added some cole slaw and Tabasco Spicy Brown Mustard.
Being a vegetarian for 8+ years, I don’t really miss the taste of animal products, but sometimes you need a low fat protein kick. This wrap hit the spot. It was so healthy, full of protein, barely any fat and low carb too. A truly refreshing lunch on a warm day.

I’ve been meaning to wear the pair of JADE PLANET Socks and Monday was the day. They are comfortable and they breath easily. The socks are a 55% Hemp, 43% Cotton and 2% Lycra blend. The socks are really tall similar to athletic tube socks. The natural color are nice and the logo stands out on the sock. My feet stayed cool during the day. The hemp and cotton blend are soft and keeps moisture away. The issue I had with them is a personal preference. I do not like tube socks, I’m a ankle sock kind of guy. JADE PLANET also sells bags and shoes.
There isn’t an online store yet, but you can pay with Paypal. Just email Julie or call her by clicking here.
Check them out at JADEPLANET.net

My dad really enjoyed the Dark Chocolate Peppermint Cups, that’s for sure. How can you not, they are rich and robust with just the perfect amount of mint to break up the richness. Of course they are not the most healthy snack to eat, but they are worth it!
Even better than the Peppermint Cups are the Champion Chip Chocolate Cookies. They are not soft cookies, but they are not hard either. The cookie itself is small, but loaded with chocolate morsels. The morsels are soft, almost melty and chewy. A great combination. The bag is resealable. Be careful though, the cookies have a tendency to crumble. They are somewhat delicate. They stayed fresh and did not get stale in the bag. That’s another plus.
Some other flavors include Espresso Chocolate, Orange and a wheat/dairy free chocolate cookie. They are not vegan, but they are vegetarian. Cookies, obviously, are not the healthiest food to eat, but it’s a resonable snack with 160 calories and 7 grams of fat per serving. A serving is 4 cookies. See more info here.
A&P for sure has the Champion Cookies and you can find the entire list here. Don’t forget to check out newmansownorganics.com for more info.
