SoyQuick Review: Make your own soy milk for pennies a day

homemade soymilk from soyquick

If you take a look to the right, you’ll notice there’s an ad for Soy Quick’s products including the the revolutionary Soy Quick Milk machine. Click that ad to check out their products, but before you do, read my first experience with making my own soymilk from dried soy beans.

It is a very easy task. When you purchase the machines, they not only come with printed instructions, but even better a DVD. I decided the old school way was going to be less fun, so I gave that a shot. The instructions were simple and flawless. Soak your beans for 8-10 hours, fill the water jug, put the soybeans where they go and hit start. Around 10 minutes later, you are set. Now, you need to cool your milk, unless you like it HOT!

The process was much easier than I imagined. I will give you some hints. Add some flavorings like vanilla, cinnamon or brown sugar, cane syrup, almond, or even whole almonds or coffee beans into the water or beans and it will taste even better. Take a look at your store-bought soy milk and see what is used.

The machine now and again makes a strange noise. Watch the short video clips I took here and here to see what I’m talking about. There are a bunch of pictures here of the machine and process, so you need to look at those also.

The taste is interesting. I expected the milk to taste like store-bought soy milk. That creamy sugary smooth milky consistency and all that. Well, it was, except the milk was much nuttier. I am going to try this next time, so write this down… Drain the soy milk from the jug into a coffee filter so it strains out some of the crushed bean shells. The nutty flavor wasn’t bad, it was just unexpected. After drinking the milk all week, i decided it was much better tasting than store-bought. It is sort of tedious to clean up too. You need to scrub it down, but in the end it is worth it. Use some gloves also, cause the machine can get hot, that’s for sure.

You can also purchase juicers and tofu makers from the ad below or to the right. That’s next, i LOVE tofu so I’d love to make my own. The overall savings by making your own milk is crazy. It’s totally worth buying one! Maybe I will make some different combinations of flavors. That would be fun and unique.

Clif Bar Review: What Clif is known for

I definitely have a favorite. It’s the Banana Nut Bread. I did enjoy the Oatmeal Raisin Walnut and the Black Cherry Almond also, but that Banana Nut Bread Clif Energy Bar is amazing. This here will list all the nutritional facts, but just note, it’s low in fat, high in fiber and protein and no cholesterol.

I could eat these for breakfast every single morning, and I did this week. I do not regularly need a morning fix, but these bars gave me the stamina to get even more work done and faster too. As I stated in a previous post, Clif is all about sustainability, the environment and the healthy, active lifestyle.

Go buy some today, either online or from your local retailer.

Inko’s White Tea Lychee Review: It’s Great!

Inko’s Healthy White Iced Tea’s slogan is definitely true. “What whit tea tastes like” is an under statement. White tea is different from normal black or green teas. It’s the bud, not the leaf of the plant. It’s higher in antioxidants and much lighter in flavor. Inko’s tea comes from a region in China known for it’s beautiful landscapes and wide variety of products. Read more about white tea here.

Lychee is a fruit from China, Indonesia, India and the Phillipines too. Just recently, Floridians, Hawaiians and Californians have been growing it too. It’s a tropical fruit. It’s sweet but not overpowering and high in vitamins.

Inko’s White Tea Lychee is delicate, smooth, sweet and 100% thirst quenching. It was a perfect beverage to compliment my Clif Bar for lunch today. The tea has only 56 calories too, but it’s light, but sweet and refreshing. Can’t wait to have more tomorrow

    Red Robin Restaurant Feedback

Red Robin is one of my favorite chain restaurants. I say this as a vegetarian. They have two choices of veggie burgers, however, they unfortunately charge extra for them. I have a problem though. Your refill drinks keep coming with straws. That’s so much wasted plastic. I hate straws and I’m not that lazy that I couldn’t take the straw from almost empty glass and place it into full glass. Either way, it’s good food and the endless french fries are great. If you like honey mustard, they have one of the best honey mustards around.

Clif Bar Review: Got my Mojo and Nectar rising!

Clif Bar is known for their mostly organic, environmentally conscience and friendly approach to world and that other thing too. FOOD! Clif Bars are unique from many of the other big companies out there who sell energy bars. The combination of organic foods create a flavorful experience.

For breakfast, I ate the MoJo Honey Roasted Peanut bar. It has 10 grams of protein and 10 grams of fat. It’s sweet and salty and delicious. I wanted to eat more and more because it is so good. It is not vegan (honey), but it is vegetarian. I also had the Fruit Nut Crunch. I love peanuts, so I figured it can’t be bad. I was right, it’s not bad, it’s great. The chunks of apricots and almonds are plentiful. Even though it has cranberries (yuck), you don’t feel like it’s (vegan) Thanksgiving leftovers. The fruit nut crunch has less fat, but the same exact amount of protein.

The MoJo bars are perfect for a snack or a light breakfast to give you that morning boost. The Nectar bar is completely different. This is more of a snackable food. These bars are 100% organic unlike the MoJo (80%) and have such simple ingredients to make such a rich flavor. The first one I tried was the Dark Chocolate and Walnut. It was like a healthy brownie. No trans fat, however! Lot’s of fiber and no salt and NO cholesterol. I love pomegranate, so I was so stoked about eating the Cherry Pomegranate Nectar Bar. I was sort of indifferent with this one. I did not love it, nor did i not like it. It was a little bitter, but that’s pom for you. I have to try it again, but it is healthy and rich with antioxidants.
