Atlantic City Beer Festival

Woke up around 9:30AM to get ready to go. We had a beer, got cleaned up and marched over the the festival. It was chilly out, but the sun started to come out and it was warming up. Tim forgot his ticket, and Gary totally hooked him up! I didn’t mention that Keith’s parents where they also.

They opened the doors and we headed on it. We toasted and started down the aisles of tasty frothy brews, sampling and getting free sssshwag when available. I got the opportunity to talk to some of the people that actually work for the breweries not just the AC Convention Hall employees and discuss my sister site leafygreen.info for some reviews.

Some of my favorite brews were the Milk Stout from Lancaster Brewing Company (Pa), the Sunset Wheat from Leinenhugel’s from Wisconsin, the organics from Wolaver’s (VT), of course, anything Dogfish does (Delaware). I loved the Arrogant stuff also. There were so many I can’t even remember more. I remember the ones I really liked however.

The Wolaver’s was great. The beer was simple and elegant, a great mixture, but it tasted clean and refreshing. Since they use all organic products in the brew process there is a different feel to it. It tastes clean, that’s all I can explain really. I’d suggest trying some out!

I’ve also been wanted to try the Milk Stout from Lancaster since I had the Amish Four Grain. I was not disappointed. Shizzle, it was good. Sweet and stouty. Different then the traditional Beamish or Guinness. Very sweet and heavy. But in a good way. Like a alcoholic milk shake. Yum!!!!!

The festival is still young, only the second annual, so there is much need for improvement and here’s what was good and what was bad.

Good

  • Plenty of vendors both independent & major companies
  • Ample walking area
  • Music, both live and musak
  • Not too much security
  • People came for the festival not just randomly showed up
  • Beer selections where great and nonstop
  • Electric beer cooler that i drove drunk on
  • The jalapeño breadstick from The Chile Spot and the peach jelly too

Bad

  • Long Men’s bathroom lines (expected)
  • Not enough food
  • Plastic mini pilsner glass
  • Needed prizes or something else to break up the day
  • No where to check coats for those who brought them
  • Arrangement of vendors felt sort of random and hodge podge, not organized
  • Not too many hot girls. The busted czech ones don’t count, obviously
  • Not enough indie food company vendors. I think there were only three
  • Not too many places to sit

    Milo’s Tea is Tearrific

Freshly brewed, all natural, no preservatives, no additives and tasty. What else do you need? Milo’s tea is unique in that respect. The Sweet Tea is just that. Freshly brewed from a combination of different teas with sugar added to make this the true southern sweet tea. I practically finished the gallon in one sitting it was so good. The dark brownish red color and the sugary smell made this tea perfect for my lunchtime pick-me up. Then it was on to the No Sugar Tea. Or as i call it, Hot Tea Cold. The tea was perfectly blended from multiple teas and chilled to make this the perfect morning tea for breakfast. Lastly, i have been drinking the Splenda sweetened sweet tea. Same flavor as the sweet tea in my opinion, but without the calories from the sugar. The rich dark brown/red color of the teas make these teas separate from some of those other teas you may find in the store. These are natural and real. No artificial stuff thrown in there to prolong the shelf-life.

Made in Alabama, Milo’s has been around for over sixty years. They know tea and the proof is in the bottles.

Milostea.com has so much more information too. Check it out. And to see pictures, click here and here.

    Chipotle Restaurants

Soon they are going to open a Chipotle Restaurant in Clifton, only a few short miles from my home. I’ve been wanted to go for a while, so I was checking their site for some details. Be aware for you vegetarians and vegans out there. If you read some of their FAQs it states that their pinto beans are cooked with bacon. Their cheese is made with vegetable rennet, so that is safe for me, but maybe not everyone. So check it out here.

    Langers WORKS!

    langers juice

This week I started to get sick. I drank so much of the Langers Pomegranate Juice and H20 that I managed to escape the winter cold. It’s tasty and healthy and yummy. The H20 Juice/Water uses organic cane sugar and not that bad other white stuff. It also has no GMOs tons of other goodies. Check it out here.

They have so many styles and flavors of juice, i’d suggest getting some ASAP!

Langers.com is their official site. More pictures are here.

    The Yankees love Green Tea

Lisa Kennelly of NJ.com, The Star-Ledger reports on the drink everyone is having in the clubhouse:

Forget Gatorade and protein shakes. In the Yankees’ clubhouse, tea — particularly antioxidant-rich green tea — has become the beverage of choice for more than a few players and coaches.

I read this on the bigelow tea blog found here from this article.
